Curlew (Numenius arquate)
|
This was the start of my passion for taking bird photos, The photo was taken in my garden, I think in 2002 on a 2mg pixel Fuji camera, The bird had a smashed wing and was bleeding quite badly. I rang up the RSPCA and they put me in touch with the RSPB. They asked me if there was anyway I could contain the bird untill they arrived as they had to come quite a distance and didn't want to turn up to find it had dissapeared. I carefully crept up on it and threw a blanket over the top, it then lay down and sat quite happily in the dark until they arrived, it was then taken away in a large cage. I never did find out whether they were able to repair the wing or if they had to put it to sleep.
